What Is Science Realism?

Science realism is a tricky genre to really categorize. The difference is similar to Urban (Contemporary) Fantasy, and Magic Realism.

Urban Science Fiction - A science fiction story, primarily set in a city. There may be changes in management, like Alien Races taking over political office. The discovery of bizarre alien creatures in their normal world, and existential conflicts with such races in relation to humanity.

Science Realism - is a genre where advanced (practical) scientific elements are a natural part in an otherwise mundane, realistic environment. I always use this example when describing what I do:

"A young woman with a mental illness, has the chance to volunteer for a special treatment program that combines the dream world, and a super computer that records her mental health data."

I'm thinking specifically of a movie I specifically watched recently. If anyone has ever seen the movie Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless mind, to me this is Science Realism. But it's not Urban Science Fiction if your going by Urban Fantasy.

Now that's assuming I'm getting the definition of Urban Science Fiction correct. I'd like to know if I'm not, wouldn't be the first time. But to summarize, I'm looking for books that feature a mundane setting with slice of life plots, with specific social problems are solve in an innovative or scientific way.

As soon as the feature is installed, feel free to drop a PM for such a book. Hopefully I'll have time after reading some Go To Another World story.

Oh, what can get confusing is if your doing a mixture of Science Realism/High Fantasy. But maybe I'm just weird.
