When analyzing books?

How do you guys do it? What do you look for when learning how to write a better sentence? I know once can figure out what YA voice is from reading more YA. I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts!:3

For me I tend to look for how a sentence in constructed. For example, is the sentence choppy, or does it flow smoothly? This might not necessarily mean bad grammar, though that could be part of it. And being choppy may not necessarily mean someone is a bad writer. I just don't care for it myself.

I used to reading manga, looking for things like negative space. So delving into reading prose is feeling a little weird. But its pretty fun.

See you in the dream matrix.
